Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu is a type of bodywork involving stretching, holding and leaning body weight on various parts of the recipient's body to improve energy flow, blood circulation, flexibility and posture.  Shiatsu literally means “finger pressure” as the therapist applies pressure to specific points or tsubos, most often along the meridian channels.

Shiatsu was developed in Japan from a synthesis of Chinese massage, Tui Na, Anma and Western techniques of physical manipulation.  This unique therapy is based key aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as western medical science. Shiatsu has been regarded as “acupuncture without needles”.  A client should wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. Oils are not used in Shiatsu.

Shiatsu Therapy is regulated and incorporated into the modern public healthcare system in Japan and is now practiced around the world.
